Great prize on offer for MCG's two millionth footy fan this weekend.

Aug 01, 2008

Tonight’s Collingwood-Hawthorn AFL match could see the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) break the two million patron mark for the 2008 AFL home and away season and one lucky footy fan will walk away with a fabulous prize.

The lucky two millionth fan will receive a Sharp Full High Definition, Ultra Slim 42" LCD TV with true cinema mode and in-built HD Digital TV tuner.

The MCG has seen 1,925,898 people click through the turnstiles this footy season from just 37 matches.  The average attendance this season is 52,051.

Therefore, tonight’s Collingwood-Hawthorn match requires an attendance of 74,102 to break the two million mark, which could happen just prior to the start of the match at 7.40pm.

If the attendance numbers fall short of that figure tonight, then an early arrival at Saturday’s Essendon-Melbourne match will snare the prize.

“Sharp Corporation Australia is excited to be the preferred supplier of televisions at the Melbourne Cricket Ground,” said Sharp Corporation Branch Manager Ian Wallace. “To celebrate the two millionth footy patron entering this fantastic stadium, we have much pleasure in presenting a state-of-the-art LCD Television and continuing our involvement with the MCG and its patrons.”

“We have been delighted with the attendance by the public, members and our corporate clients during this footy season,” said Melbourne Cricket Club chief executive, Stephen Gough. “The MCG is the home of football and we are delighted Sharp Corporation has agreed to reward one lucky footy fan at tonight’s match.”
