Getting to the MCG

You can catch buses, trams or trains to the MCG. MCG Tours and the National Sports Museum are at Gate 3 on the north side of the MCG.

There are a variety of public transport options available for people with limited mobility. Visit the Melbourne City Council website for information about Getting around Melbourne.

The Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle is wheelchair accessible at the turning circle at the corner of Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace.

Parking

Disability designated car parking spaces are located at the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street, Jolimont. This is close to Gate 1 of the MCG.

There is a drop-off zone at the corner of Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace, Jolimont. This is close to Gate 1 of the MCG.  There is no parking available at the MCG.

Entering the MCG

Entry to Gate 3 of the MCG is at ground level.

The MCG Tour uses lifts and is led by the Tour Guide.

Entry to the National Sports Museum is via an escalator. A staff member will assist anyone that requires entry via a lift.

The National Sports Museum has two levels. The bottom level can only be accessed via stairs or a ramp.

Wheelchairs are available on a first come basis, free of charge from the Cloaking Desk at Gate 3. Wheelchair access is available in all of our galleries.

If more wheelchairs are required, please call our front of house staff at least one day in advance of your visit on (03) 9657 8979.

Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs

Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs are welcome at the MCG and National Sports Museum, in the gallery spaces and to all programs.

Other services and facilities

Toilets and infant room

Male and female amenities with wheelchair access are available on Level 1 of the National Sports Museum. Please look for signs or ask one of our volunteers or staff members. An infant room for parents and children is also provided on the entry level.

The main wheelchair access toilet has a sign with Braille indicator.

Companion and carer support

Companion/Carer Card holders can obtain free access to MCG Tour and National Sports Museum programs. We accept Companion Cards registered in Victoria and from other states and internationally.

The Smart Auslan device in the National Sports MuseumAccess Programs

The National Sports Museum Access program includes the following elements:

- Self guided tours of the National Sports Museum can be enhanced with the use of our free audio tour.

- Smart Auslan - The audio tour is also available to hearing-impaired and deaf visitors.

The Melbourne Mobility Centre, located in Federation Square, is a service for people with mobility restrictions that encourages accessibility for all.

Travellers Aid is for travellers at the point of need to have access to services which are relevant and assist in providing solutions with dignity.
