VIDEO: look back at the vital moments that delivered Australia the country’s first major international trophy on a pulsating night of action.

SHORTLY after 8.15 last night, Serena Williams was buckled over with her head buried in a towel.

ANGE Postecoglou said he never lost faith in his side, despite South Korea temporarily looking like spoiling the Socceroos’ Asian Cup party in the final.

EACH member of the Sydney Sixers’s Big Bash final XI has been fined $500 and captain Moises Henriques suspended for one match after falling foul of cricket’s crackdown on slow over rates.

THE Socceroos are the champions of Asia, James Troisi’s extra time goal securing a thrilling victory over Korea Republic. Re-live the action.

Faster, Higher, Stronger

From the ancient games to the present day, Faster, Higher, Stronger traces Australia's participation in the Olympic Games.

Highlights include an Olympic timeline with each Olympic relay torch from Berlin in 1936 to Athens in 2004, excluding Helsinki in 1952, and medals and artefacts from past and present Olympians including Petria Thomas, Catherine Freeman and Edwin Flack – our first ever Olympic winner.

Faster, Higher, Stronger will shortly feature a new multimedia production profiling those Olympic medallists and athletes who have been selected in the Australian Olympic Committee's ‘100 of Our Finest’.

Further information on every Australian Olympian and their Games results can be found at the Australian Olympic Committee website.
