The National Sports Museum is the exhibition space dedicated to the display and interpretation of a range of sports.
Items on display have been sourced in the first instance from the Australian Gallery of Sport and Olympic Museum (AGOS-OM), which was established by the MCC in 1984.
In addition to items on display from the AGOS-OM collection, a range of organisations have made material available for inclusion in the National Sports Museum through a loan to the AGOS-OM.
More than 20 sports are actively collected with the top three sports represented in the collection being the Olympic Games (summer and winter), Australian football and cricket.
There is a wide range of material types held with documentation, photographs and garments accounting for close to 80% of holdings.
